Ozone destruction unit

The gases coming from the contact chamber(s) of the ozonation plant contain amounts of ozone that have not reacted with the medium to be treated.

Before expelling these gases to the outside, it is necessary to decompose the ozone. For this it is advisable to install a thermal or catalytic type ozone destructor. The mission of the ozone destructor is none other than to destroy the residual ozone not consumed during an ozonation reaction between the injected ozone and the fluid to be oxidized.

Newland produce his own Ozone Destruction Units by thermo-catalytic reaction. The ozonated gas is recovered at the top of the contact tank and by means of the blower it is forced into the ozone destructor.

The gas stream from the contact chamber has a high humidity index, so all our destructors are equipped with a demister to retain water droplets. In the most severe cases, a liquid collection tank is installed before the destructor.

This gas stream passes through a reactor in which its temperature is increased. This process is controlled by a microprocessor and can adjust the desired temperature ranges according to weather conditions.

Subsequently, the gas passes through a high-efficiency catalyst bed, where the dissociation of ozone to oxygen occurs.

This ozone-free gas is absorbed by the blower, which incorporates vacuum measurement and its adjustments to have the highest efficiency in the process of capturing gas from the chamber.

The resulting oxygen gas is evacuated into the atmosphere through the exhaust chimney of the destruction unit.
