Newland supplies Ozone Generators System for Bouregreg DWP In Morocco
Newland Completes Installation of Ozone Generation System for the Bouregreg Drinking Water Treatment Plant in Morocco
The Bouregreg drinking water plant is located in Rabat, Morocco, and with a treatment capacity of 1,000,000 m³/day, it supplies the cities of Rabat, Casablanca, and Salé.
Newland Entech Europe was awarded the turnkey installation of an ozone generation system to be incorporated into the Bouregreg drinking water plant to optimize water quality.
The installation includes three NLO series ozone generators, model 30K, with a total ozone production of 100 kg/h, which operate using liquid oxygen.
This oxygen is treated before entering the generator via a filtering system and nitrogen addition to ensure stable ozone production.
The ozone generators feature discharge tubes equipped with the most advanced safety systems for dielectric protection and an energy consumption control system.
Each ozone generator includes a full set of instruments for monitoring the operational parameters and a UV spectrophotometer, allowing for a regulation loop to optimize energy consumption and reduce operating costs.
The ozone production reaction is exothermic, producing heat. To lower the temperature in the ozone generators, closed-circuit cooling systems are used, fed with deionized water containing additives, to preserve the long-term durability of the equipment materials.
Each cooling system includes dual pumps to ensure continuous system operation.
The generated ozone is sent to nine contact chambers located at the plant's head, where water pre-oxidation takes place.
An automatic dosing system was installed for each of the nine mixing chambers.
The design of these chambers was carried out by Newland Entech Europe using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques, optimizing the efficiency of the ozonation stage.
Ozone transfer to water is achieved through high-efficiency dome-type porous diffusers, which allow the ozone gas to flow and mix with the water.
For the destruction of undissolved ozone, catalytic thermal ozone destructors controlled by PLCs were installed to ensure efficient process control.
The preheating process and temperature control of the air are done using components 100% compatible with humid ozone gas, guaranteeing durability over time.
The construction of these destructors allows them to be installed and operated outdoors, with no need for housing units.
Additionally, the ozone destruction systems include a demister or droplet separator and a pressure relief valve.
To ensure safety within the plant, the ozonation building is equipped with the most modern safety systems for gas leak detection.
In the event of an ozone gas leak, the plant will automatically shut down, and a set of air extractors will activate, evacuating the entire volume of the room in seconds.
The entire ozone installation is controlled by a control panel that allows for monitoring all plant components and the exact dosing required by the operator.
With more than 50,000 kg/h of ozone installed around the world, Newland contributes to the environment protection by reducing the consumption of chemical products using clean technologies.
